What are medication options?
Injectables: GLP-1s are very effective and also very expensive.
- Wegovy (Semaglutide)
- Zepbound (Tirzepatide)
- Saxenda (Liraglutide)
Oral medications:
- Contrave is a combination of Naltrexone and Bupropion.
- Qsymia is a combination of Phentermine and Topiramate
**The component medications can be used or prescribed individually.
- Metformin is a medication used for diabetes and helps stabilize the metabolism.
Do you provide GLP-1s?
No we do not dispense these medications or prescribe compounded versions which is currently illegal.
Some insurance plans cover these medications but not all.
If not covered, the least expensive way we prescribe them is directly through the manufacturer.
Check out Wegovy.com and Zepbound.lilly.com for details.
What is the best diet for weight loss?
The best weight-loss diet has these components:
No ultra-processed foods
No sugared or diet beverages
Little alcohol
Fiber - at least 35 g per day
Plant-based proteins (legumes, soy)
Omega-3 fats (fish, olive oil, nuts and seeds)
How much do I need to exercise?
At least 150 minutes per week of moderate exertion. 200 minutes is better. It is best to spread out over the week, with no more than 2 days in a row without exercise.
Plus 2 sessions per week of strength training.
Exercise itself rarely leads to weight loss without dietary changes. Weight loss only occurs when you expend more calories than you take in.
