What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative model for primary care that functions outside the health insurance system. Patients join for a low monthly fee, and have direct access to their doctor whenever they need it.   Patients stay healthier because when they need care, they can see a doctor who knows them and who they trust.

Businesses can offer DPC to employees and significantly reduce costs while helping their employees stay healthy.

Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between DPC and Concierge medicine?

    Both operate on a monthly membership basis.  Concierge medicine usually bills insurance for the visit plus charging the patient a membership fee.  Concierge medicine is more expensive than DPC.

  • Do you take insurance?

    No, we do not bill insurance for any care we provide in the office. Everything is included in your membership.  If you need to see a specialist, or need labs, vaccines, or lab tests you can bill these to a PPO insurance plan.

  • Do you do labs in the office?

    Yes.  Point-of-care tests like rapid strep, flu, covid, urine testing, and blood glucose are included with your membership.  For other tests, we can draw blood in the office then send to Quest or Labcorp.  You can bill lab costs to PPO plans or pay the wholesale price through Duet. 

  • Do you dispense medications in the office?

    Yes.  We stock many common medications and can order many others for lower cost than at pharmacies.  You can also use your insurance to fill a prescription through your pharmacy.

  • Is there a copay for office visits?

    No.  All your office visits, telehealth visits, and phone calls with your doctor are included in your membership.

  • What if I have an emergency or need to be hospitalized?

    If you have an emergency you can first call us, and we may be able to help. If you do need to go to the ER or hospital, you will be responsible for the bill yourself or through your insurance plan.  This is why we recommend everyone carry a wrap-around plan for emergencies.

  • Do you do virtual visits?

    Yes, for enrolled patients we can often take care of your needs by telehealth without a physical office visit.  Your first visit to establish care must be in person.

  • Can you refer me to specialists?

    Yes.  If you have PPO insurance we will help you find a specialist in your network.  If you have an HMO, you need to be referred from a PCP in your HMO network.  If you don’t have insurance, we will help you find a specialist that offers lower cash prices.

  • How do I join?

    Click below to schedule a free video Information Session or an inperson Enrollment Visit.  At the enrollment visit we will fill out some paperwork and go over your health care needs.  Your enrollment fee and first month membership are charged at your first visit.

  • Is there a commitment?

    No.  You can cancel your membership at any time with 2 weeks notice.  However if you decide you want to come back, there is a re-enrollment fee of $200.
